Hello,

We are considering moving our family from Southern California to Houston Texas, via relocation through my husbands work BNSF.

We want to get away from crime, gangs, cost of living, so in your opinion's is this city the right move for us?

And if you know where the main yard is in conjuntion with suberbs in Houston that are the best, I am told katy, TX. How far are these areas for commuting purposes.

Thanks
Jessica

I'll assume that you're talking living in a suburb and commuting to downtown or otherwise inside the inner loop 610. Katy is on the Katy Frw I10 which is a beast if you're not on the road by 6:00. Woodlands, Kingwood, etc are nice like Katy but with georgeous Pines (Katy is more prairie landform) and on the 59 which is quite a bit faster. Also, Ft Bend suburbs like Missouri City and Sugarland are quite nice and intermediate in commute - they are a really good commute if you work in the Galleria/Uptown area. All of these areas are decent commutes if you can use the carpool lanes with a buddy or use the express buses sharing them.

If the yard is located (as chris mentioned)...belt 8 & 249. You would be a lot closer to the Klein/Tomball/Cypress areas. If you go north on 249 from belt 8 you can look in the Lakewood, Champions or Tomball ...all are good and located close to shopping, markets and strong schools. Just will depend on how much you want to spend. Sunny
