Here is a quote from the official Grand Parkway web site, which is online at: www.GrandPky.com

"State Highway 99 (SH 99, the Grand Parkway) is a proposed 180+ mile circumferential scenic highway traversing seven counties and encircling the Greater Houston region. The project has been shown on governmental planning documents since the early 1960's. Currently, the 19.5- mile Segment D, from US 59 near Sugar Land to IH 10 near Katy, has been constructed and serving as a toll free road open to the traveling public since August 31, 1994.

Additional Phase I of Segment I-2, from IH 10 (E) to FM 1405, is a 8.8 mile section of the highway that was opened to traffic on March 25, 2008. Phase 2 of Segment I-2 (FM 1405 to SH 146) is currently under design.

Other segments are in various stages of project development."
Cool. Does anyone know when the entire project is slated to be completed?

Default Houston Grand Parkway completion dates...

All of the segments from Segment B to Segment I2 have published completion dates ranging from 1994 and 2008 (ie, those segments are already completed), to 2019 for Segments B, C, H and I1.

Segment A is likely the most complicated to plan as it includes areas between I45 and 146 near Galveston, and that Segment had the Feasibility Study completed in 2010 with the Construction and Completion dates still not finalized.

Here is the official Grand Parkway site page with the Segment completion dates:

You've never been to Texas?
Any nice new highway is guaranteed to be a toll road.

I hate toll roads. I hope Texas doesn't get like Oklahoma with theirs.

I guess it;ll take some stress off of the east loop of I-610 when trucks go east but I guess most trucks head north and west to Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin.

Northeast too. The amount of truck traffic that goes through my city headed for points east is crazy.
