Then you may rest in peace for what I care. You could always throw your wife shoes at someone trying to rob and kill you :-) I hope you're not going to learn this lesson the hard way, trying to defend your family when you have to. That will be very hard to leave with it if ever happens to your family. As the man of the house you have a responsibility to defend and protect your family. If you don’t have those basics then you’re in the lala land mate.

The death penalty was made for trash like this. I 100% support it. I also have a CHL and carry both in my car, as well as in my house, and I know how to use it.

I'm super uncivilized.

What kind of low-life suggests in a public forum that there is no virtue in gun-ownership vis-a-vis self defense from home invaders that want to kill you?

But you're beyond a low life when you beat the defenseless (the elderly, children, animals...). The term "low-life" is really too good for this piece of sewage.

You people need to lay off Vegankris, who is entitled to her opinions about guns. She's got kids in her home. If you have kids in your home, you have to keep guns and ammo locked up or you are putting your kids, or visiting kid friends, at risk. If your guns and ammo are locked up, you're not going to get to them in time to stop the dude busting down your back door or surprising you in the middle of the night. So for some people it DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO HAVE GUNS IN THE HOME. Just deal with it and stop the flaming.

This used to be a fairly friendly forum. What on earth is going on here?

taking a bat to a home invader or having a dog is just as much of a deterrent to being a victim then owning a gun. the typical home robbery the people aren't armed or they don't end up shooting anyone. your spouse or family member is statistically more likely going to try to shoot you with a gun than a random person is. if you have kids in the home, especially if they are young, totally understandable not to have a gun around or keep it locked 100% of the time. for people who have guns their opinion differs and it doesn't matter. there can two sides of opinion on this matter

Oh I see. She can assert her hysterical hoplophobe position that "guns bad" and ridicule those of us that aren't pacifist wimps as "uncivilized", but if we assert that there is virtue in gun ownership for self defense, we are azzholes. I see the game here.

Better that the old woman in the OP didn't have any guns around, things could've been a lot worse for her if she had!

I want you to close your eyes for a minute and picture this. Next to your bed is a night stand. This night stand has drawers in it. Inside the top drawer is a small handgun safe. This handgun safe has an electronic lock mechanism with either a fingerprint scanner or a combination pad. Inside the safe is a handgun in condition 0 (or revolver) loaded with hydrashocks. Someone kicks in your door and the alarm goes off. How many seconds until you can get to that gun? Is that sooner than it takes a drug crazed lunatic in the dark to get to you? Does it still "NOT MAKE SENSE TO HAVE GUNS IN THE HOME!!!11one!!1"?

I think it is irresponsible to NOT have a gun in the house if you have small children. I consider it child abuse. You cannot protect them with 911 on speed dial, a baseball bat, or pepper spray. Rapist home invaders don't listen to "pretty please".

People used to believe in self defense in this country. Now we have people like you promoting thumb-sucking hoplophobe pacifism in public forums. What on earth is going on here?

what would you say to a family who lost a young child due to that child accidently shooting and killing themself? "well it was child abuse NOT to have a gun"

this argument, like religion, is never without hyperbole

what with all the rape comments? jeez.
