Are there Hockey clubs in Houston?
A 14 year old playing in Europe will be staying for one academic year in Houston and would like to joing a Hockey club to practice and learn from other teams.
Would you recommend a different option...
Thanks!

The only one I know of is Space City Ice Station in Clear Lake, I have friends that play on a team there and I know there's a rink in Sugarland but I don't think they do hockey. I don't think that's near you; those are the only ones I know of.

The closest rink is going to be the Aerodrome in Willowbrook. Aerodrome

At 14, s/he will be a bantam. The next question is what is this kids skill level? There are options for either house or travel hockey... travel will be a higher skill level, but also a bigger time/$ commitment. Also, if they will be in the 9th grade, there is the option of playing high school hockey. If their high school does not have a team, they can be drafted to a nearby high school that does.

Here are some more links for you:

Houston house Hockey: Houston House Hockey

Houston area high school hockey: Interscholastic Hockey League - Home

Some travel hockey options:
Houston Wild Hockey Club
Hitmen Junior Hockey Assoc
Houston Hurricane Hockey Association (http://www.houstonhurricanehockey.com/ - broken link)

I'd love to recommend the Bay Area Hounds, as that is the organization I am affiliated with, but our home rink is in Friendswood (Space City Ice Station) which is a far drive from the NW side of town.
