Good to see your Kings thriving Ditchlights. Too bad my Blues can't seem to take their excellence in the regular season deep into the playoffs. Who knows what it will take for them to do that. Ryan Miller was supposed to be key to that and now he's gone. Kings in 6. Go Western Conference!
Glad the Rangers avoided the sweep... amazing how close it is to being 3 - 1 Rangers or even 2 - 2 at this point.
Anything can happen.... remember LA came back from 0 - 3 earlier in these playoffs.
Win on Friday and get back to New York.
2-2 would have been the best the Rangers could have hoped for--they had a solid Game 2, but Game 1 was mostly LA after mid-period 2, and in Game 3 the Rangers never made any serious threats.
Only Lundqvist saved NY last night--hardly anyone else showed up.
I'm pulling for the Rags, by the way.
Let's face it--the Western Conference had 6 very strong, legitimate Cup contenders--Colorado, LA, San Jose, Anaheim, St. Louis and Chicago, while the East has Boston above all else, and maybe Pittsburgh. Montreal, NY, Tampa, etc are good, but not great teams. No one was afraid to play them. If Boston had won the East, the Kings would have had a very tough time winning the Cup. I think that this is undeniable, having seen the Rangers play...
Undeniable? Boston was sent packing 2 rounds ago... Rangers were one of the better teams in the entire league during the 2nd half of the season... and they also sent the all-mighty Crosby's packing in round 2.
Not denying the fact that the West is far stronger than the East... but sick of hearing that the Rangers "don't belong" or they're "lucky". Remember LA didn't lead at any point of the first 2 games of this Finals but just managed to hang in there and tie the game before OT before eventually winning it.
All you need is that one win to get some confidence going and put a hint of doubt in the minds of your opponents. That final victory to claim the Cup is most definitely the single hardest thing that any team will ever have to do. LA will feel the pressure to do so back home tomorrow.
Don't let my moniker fool you--I'm not a Bruins' fan, but I do know that all the Western playoff teams breathed a huge sigh of relief when the Bruins were upset in the 2nd round, for they were truly the only team from the East that would have caused big problems for them. I watched the Bruins handle the Kings, Sharks, Hawks with EASE this year. They do have a tendency towards "goonish" hockey at times, but they are a big, extremely physical team that also has considerable talent, and they would have given the Kings all they could handle, and likely a bit more. There's a reason why the Bruins won the President's Trophy, and ran away from the rest of the East during the regular season.
Beating Pitt is no big deal--they have serious defensive and goaltending issues.
Kings win. Did they fulfill and verify that the Western Conference is the superior conference?? We can discuss. Anyway the Kings looked very good. Quick brought his game along with the rest. They have a core group of guys that just step it up so big when it's playoff time. Now the St. Louis Blues need that.
