Anybody remember "Wizzers" ? They were basically small plastic tops that you got the tip spinning on and then set them in the floor and they would spin for a few minutes. They came with some add on pieces to do ineresting things to them....one on top of the other, two spinning on a merry-go-round type of thing etc...

I had several Wizzers...and still do :-) I kept a few of my favorite toys from you youth in a box which has been moved with me everytimg I moved. The point being that ever couple years I go down into the basement and dig around in the box and just enjoy the fond memories of my younger years. I also marvel at how well things were made back then. Things these days just seem so cheaply made and basically ready to brake the first or second time you use them. Seeing "made in USA" stamped on so many things also brings sadness when I think of how rare that is to find that on anything made today.

Yes, I remember those. Where I'm from they were called Tops or Toppers. I wish I would have kept some of the things I had. It would be fun to go through them from time to time.

Avalon Hill, SPI and GDW board strategy wargames. Without them, I probably would have become a career criminal.

That and Strat-O-Matic baseball. Though I'm still playing that.

Default new comer

i had glass clackers, romper stompers, skip it, SST cars, barrel of monkeys, chatty cathy doll, all different kinds of colorforms, close and play record player, i also had another record player that only played 45's dont remember who made it but i do remember i had a blue one and a pink one and you slid the record in the front through a slot alot like you do todays car cd players and the only switches on it were the volume and the eject, the record would automatically start to play as soon as you slid it in. i also had a dr dolittle house that came with soft vinyl animals, mrs beasley doll, tv tennis, and musical spoons.

The clackers were alot of fun, but they had one major problem. If the outside temp dropped below a certain level, the clackers would shatter.

But my favorite toy will always be "TONKA", I spent hours on end playing with the Tonka trucks, dozers, backhoe and all the others I had handed down to me in the big dirt pile we had in our back yard. Now I drive a 20 1/2 ton 6 axle dump truck for a living and still love playing with the big toys. Plus this summer I'm going to have "MY TONKA!" painted on the tailgate of the truck. Oh, and I was a heavy equipment operator in the Navy SeaBee's too.
