What they mean by "diversity" is a diverse group by race, gender, religion, and age... Not diversity of thought they don't want to hear from those that have a difference POV other than current woke drivel.
Ah yes. Someone shows up to a meeting of otherwise like-minded folks who espouse tolerance, hollers a bunch of intolerant things, and gets kicked out, then accuses the group of being intolerant towards him. A schoolyard bully finally pushes a victim too far, gets punched in the face, then runs crying to teacher and throws an unholy fit because someone dared stand up to him, accuses the other kid of "bullying" or picking on him when he's spent the last month doing so daily. A person posts flagrant trolling on a website, cries "Censorship, censorship, muh freedum of speech!" when he's banned for it.
Every one of them thinking their rights have been trampled, every one of them acting like a snowflake while accusing others of it.
Not everybody has the time or inclination to play Monty Python's Argument Clinic, which is usually the entire purpose of those who complain that their "diversity of thought" or "difference POV" wasn't adequately humored, heard, and tolerated. Usually whatever they wanted to argue was nothing new or original or special (which they insist it was) rather it was a tired old flame war that had long since been argued a thousand times, and the "woke drivel" folks are just tired of having to back up and revisit it, and waste their time yet again...which is generally what the trolls are demanding.
Well OK, that's a fair point. You're right, that was pretty antagonistic. I went too far. At the same time, it should be noted that it's a response born from years of frustration. Years listening to those in power and those like yourself who expect us to simply accept as a given that diversity is a good thing. Many are not convinced, and I think my question is a fair one. Are you going to offer us an answer?
In 1960 the U.S. was about 90% white. I liked it that way. YMMV. The 1965 Act and it’s results weren’t like any other by far. This should be obvious to most.

Prior to 1972, Hispanics were white because they were descended from Spain - a country on the European continent. After that year, they were deemed a minority to join Mexicans who are descended from southern countries on the American continent. Then, both were identified as Hispanic yet one group was white and the other was mestizo. So what does this mean? That humans cannot be categorized by skin color. It really is a stupid concept.

Are the people on the fringes of the right more open to different POVs? Are people who are rabidly anti-abortion open to different POVs? Those opposed to baking gay wedding cakes, are they open to different POVs?
I think the problem is twofold. One, the extremes of both sides make more noise and get more attention, even though they do not represent most people, who are more in the center than far right OR far left, and two, neither side is open to differing POVs or compromises, regardless of topic.
