Okay let try this again.......How would Augusta benefit from having access to Columbus and Macon? How you benefit?

Personally this seems like a dream, but not very practical. Living in Macon, I would love it, but I really can't justify the expense of making this corridor up to interstate standards. I love the completed Fall Line Freeway between Macon and Columbus. I can't wait for the Macon to Augusta portion to be completed. Georgia had this road as part of their master plan to open up the possibility of distribution centers, etc to be developed outside of Atlanta. I think the Fall Line Freeway will help the rural fall line counties (some are very poor) to gain new business. Still, an interstate would be overkill.

All of Georgia's cities will benefit from I-14 if it comes to reality. It will hopefully take a lot of pressure off of metro Atlanta (which is drastically needed).

This was the purpose of I16, but growth has been very slow. GaDOT even did a study on I16 a few years ago showing the slow growth, lower than expected. Only recently have distribution centers begun to spring up, years after the intra-interstate was built.

The need for GA is for more North/South access, extending I185 and something running from Macon though SE GA to Brunswick/Jacksonville....this would benefit Macon and Columbus as additional GA hubs.

Look at the route of I14.. it really seems to be unnecessary.. about half of it just parallels I20. I think there is a case though for making the fall line freeway a true freeway and then extending it west of Columbus to hook up with I85 somewhere between Auburn and Tuskegee. Then another road could be built linking montgomery with I20 around meridian, MS.

So what will I will I-14 do for Macon? Macon already have I-16 and I-75, would a third interstate help it grow to this great city everyone hoping for, finally? Give Augusta 3 interstates running thru it.........hell give Columbus 1 and see what kind of growth happens.

Some people thow I14 and I3 out there as though these roads are going to get built. These roads were merely proposals by a Georgia congressman who is no longer in office. There are dozens of proposed interstate highways that were never built. There has been no authorization to build these interstates and most importantly, no money has been allocated to even study the feasibility of building these proposed interstates. Basically this was something that former congressman Max Burns dreamt up as a way of getting reelected, and it didn't work.

Thanx for your input, guy. but I never said it was getting built and none of the people on here said it was getting built. I said In what way would the Fall Line cities benefit from it if it was built? Some reason you keep bring up I-3 as if I said it was being built......all I said was from the two proposals I-14 benefit the state more. Now it seem no can tell me what I-14 can do to benefit the state beside saying it will connect Columbus, Macon and Augusta. Thats all fine and dandy but how is that benefial?
