We had one that went up to the ceiling and then travelled from there.

Finally cut it down and saved a chunk of the stem and stuck it into a pot of soil, and it grew into a new plant.

Have done that a number of times, as it grows so fast. And yes, some of the bottom leaves would yellow.

Finally planted it outside a couple of years ago, and just last wk, cut the new shoot off and planted that also.

I have well water, so I read/found that by using water that sits out for 24 hours (I have a jug that is filled with water for my finicky plants) and then I water my plants, this problem disappears. Hope you have better luck than I did.
Our corn plant is 8 years old and up to the ceiling with 3 other plants. We are in process of moving. The plant does not need much watering at all and prefers shady area,no direct sunlight. We are leaveing plant with neighbor and letting her cut it back and reroot stems.

Great! Now I just noticed millipedes in the pot. A quick Google search indicates that millipedes are a common problem in house plants purchased from Lowes. . .

my corn plant is 6 feet, at least, and leaves just on the vry top. It has a new plant growing and that one looks healthy. How do I repot it without killing it or the original one?

Cut the new one off the main stem. Either stick it straight into some new dirt and pot, or a jug of water for a wk or so until you see new 'hair' roots growing, and then into dirt.

Shouldn't hurt your original plant.

Corn Plant Houseplant Care
dracaenas like to be left alone...they do well in low light......trim off the bad leaves...look on the undersides for little bugs.....also, it might be root rot....
