krisco, glad you're enjoying it in TX!

Yes, On the Border is a chain restaurant. I've seen them in NJ, where my family lives.

Darn, that was the perfect oppt. for you to see Sundance Square when your friend was over. My recommendation is anytime you have friends from out of town over, take them to Sundance Square if you don't want to go to Dallas. Just letting you know for next time. I don't know of local bars in NRH or the H-B-E area. I just know I enjoy it in SS, not to mention the free and plentiful parking.

I'm definitely going to get down there to check it out In hindsight, probably should have just gone there. But neither of us really felt like doing the trip into Fort Worth... we were looking for something close. Ah well, I'll just continue scouring the area I guess!

SS is only about 12 mi. from NRH. It's not a bad drive at all, maybe 20-25 min. even in moderate traffic.

I tried the On The Border that was recommended and it was great - I'm assuming it's a chain, but I had never heard of it before. Next up is Abuelo's! I'm told that's pretty decent.

I also checked out that Seekers coffee house this past Friday, and while it was a nice place, I don't think it's for me. I'm not really a "religious" person persay, and I definitely felt a little out of place. :P

One thing I am having trouble finding is a good place to just sit down and grab a beer. I have seen a couple chain restaurants that I could probably go to, but I'm looking for something with a less corporate feel. A friend of mine that lives in Houston drove up to hang out for the weekend and I felt bad because I didn't even know where to take him to grab a couple drinks. We were tossing around going down to Sundance Square, but it's a bit far to go for just a couple drinks. Are there any bars in NRH or Hurst?
Just go to Yahoo Local and look from there. There is a sports bar called "Broncos" about 1 mile from where you're at. It's a laid back place to have a beer and some hot wings and grab a game or something. I don't go out and drink because I'm married and the wife doesn't drink, but there are places to go.

I'm glad to hear you like it here neighbor! I live about two football fields from you..

in NRH/Colleyville area two non-chain sports bars
Bronco's sports bar which is off the access road on 183 behind BlackEyed Pea restaurant
Lonnigans Sports Bar is further north on Grapevine Hwy just n of cheek sparger in shopping center where steinmart is

in Bedford
Duke's which is in shopping center on Central Drive and 183/Airport Frwy is pretty popular and newer than other two

regarding bike riding--if you are over 5 yrs old, you don't ride bikes on sidewalks--
bikes need to be ridden on streets and that is why they are in the danger zone--most streets here do not have bike lanes and the traffic is fast--
in my area people who ride on Cheek-Sparger are really a hazard to themselves and others because on some lengths there is a pedestrian walking path that some people ride on--but it disappears and they have to get back on the real road--most traffic drives more than the speed limit and there is NO shoulder--

roads like Harwood and Mid Cities blvd are the same--and bike riders need to be very careful...

Thank you, kindly

I went down to Sundance Square this past weekend to scope it out and all I can say is "WOW". I was quite impressed with how clean and safe it was. I didn't stay long so I didn't get to witness the "late-night" environment... but I was there for a few hours and head out around 9:30pm.

I had no idea Fort Worth was that big! I mean, I knew the population was large, but it just never clicked. To be honest, no one even know it exists in NJ hehe... it's not even considered a city. When we think of cities in TX, we think: Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Houston. It was a pleasant surprise!

I'll definitely be going back down there, but it is also nice to have somewhere around the corner to go to as well... so thanks for the input, loves2read!

Yes, SS is great. Where in SS were you? I ate at Reata for the first time. Good food but a bit pricey.

While in NJ, I also didn't know what to expect before I moved before I Googled Sundance Square and found it on Wikipedia.

I was mostly just walking around exploring... went up and down a few streets. I stopped in at a bar called Durty Murphy's for a couple brews and to catch some of the UNC disaster lol.

I'm definitely gonna have to go back some time and try out some of the food. I noticed there's a P.F. Chang's down there... I love that place. Also.. I'm told Uno makes a pretty good deep dish pie. I was going to head over to scope out Dallas this weekend, but maybe I'll just head back to FW. :P

Yep, I've been to all of those places. Durty Murphy's is a cool Irish pub. PF Chang's and Uno's are good restaurants. If you like Tex-Mex, check out Mi Cocina. If you like live bands, check out 8.0, Flying Saucer, and Pour House.

Nah, nothing to do in Dallas. j/k!
