Can anyone comment on living in Fort Collins area compared to New Mexico (Albuquerque)? I live in NM now, but want to move to FC. Even though it is a pretty place to live, there is a lack of reliability here. I have lived in TX and AZ as well, and have never experienced this 'don't really care' attitude here. I would appreciate any input regarding what the people of FC are like. Thx!

I am a new mexican who has lived in Albuquerque as well as Ft. Collins. Ft. Collins is of course a small city with hardwood tree lined streets. It has a whole different feel from the larger city of Albuquerque which is 3 or 4 times larger. There is much more crime in Albq & the school system notoriously struggles to meet standards. I am not quite sure what you mean by the lack of reliability in Albq.

I have not lived in NM but I wanted to direct you to this thread:

https://www.city-data.com/forum/fort-...-not-what.html

It is a thread about how people feel about living and interacting with others here. A very good thread for you to get a feel for what people think about the attitudes of others here in FC.

It's a lot smaller town think Mayberry. Disneyland's Main Street is was designed after Old Town Square. The people here are great. Just depends if you get out there and meet them. You have to make an effort anywhere to get to know people. Not a lot of crime, no real bad neighborhoods, or wrong side of the tracks. The schools are great and there are soo many outdoor activities to do.

You may be kidding? Compare NM and FC - they have almost nothing in common. Fort Colling is nice city with 4 seasons, pretty downtown, European environment. If you like Europe - you will like FC, if you like Mexico - stay in Alb!

Fort Collins is European? Which part of Europe has auto-oriented cities and a cold, dry climate?
