Do people commute from Fort Collins, CO to Denver? Considering relocating to Colorado Springs or Fort Collins - which is better? We have elementary school children. Retiring military with high clearence but not looking for contracting job.

Believe it or not there are people who commute from Fort Collins, but most I think do it only temporarily while they look to relocate closer to Denver or for short-term temporary assignments. I can't see why anyone would choose to commute long term -- it would be an hours' drive with no traffic, which there is always LOTS of traffic on that stretch of road. Nearby Loveland, about 10 miles down the road toward Denver, has a lot more commuters; but most of them by necessity (lost their local job, got one in Denver) then by choice.

If you work in Denver, consider living in Longmont or one of those towns. I know people that commute Denver to Fort Collins and they spend over an hour on I25.

Fort Collins is a great small city though.
