I just do it by hand--it's not that hard or time-consuming, IMO. And you get to feel the dough--I can tell by it's feel if I have enough flour...

Revived from the dead, thanks to my love of baking bread! LOL

Made me laugh, seriously out loud. Hubby probably thinks I'm nuts!

I prefer by hand too. Never used a machine. It kind of feels like cheating to me. Also makes me realize what life was like many years ago when women were up before the sun, baking and cooking like crazy. They must have been incredible!

Anyone else a hander? Or a machiney?

A bread machine was probably one of the worst kitchen gadgets I ever bought. As much I understand it might be great for many people, it simply does not work for me at all.

I bake fresh bread every week from scratch, no bread machines.

I had one. I made bread maybe twice a year in it - it wasn't all that great of bread and it was inconvenient to clean.

I got a Kitchen Aid one year and my MIL taught me how to use the kneader attachment on it - so simple. I donated my bread machine the next week.

It tastes so much better baked in the oven!

Our bread machine was so bad we wouldn't sell it in a garage sale. We only bake in the winter and next winter there will be bread dough made with the Kitchen Aid stand mixer and dough hook.
