We had a big neighborhood BBQ this afternoon so I didn't plan to cook a supper but we ended up doing a makeover on our Indian takeout and it was quite good!
Leftover pulled pork, mashed potatoes, sauteed corn with butter and a chunk of "pizza bread" that I bought on impulse at LIDL. A chilled glass of sauvignon blanc to accompany.
We had pure Italian comfort food tonight! Pasta mista. You don't hear much about this, it's truly peasant food but oh is it good. It was a dish to use up different types/shapes of pasta and anything else needing to be used up. This version had a diced smoked Italian sausage, diced celery, carrot, onion, potatoes, broth, trattole and farfelle pasta, along with parsley and shredded mozzarella cheese. When dished up, a light sprinkle of evoo on top. Everything is diced small so it is made rather fast. I just love food that brings back so many good memories! Served with a salad and a glass of pinot noir to drink.
After our shopping* around, DH wanted to go to BJs Brew. Got himself a growler whilst I ordered the dinner meals via the mobile app. I might have overlooked the option for grilled shrimp so I ended up getting the blackened shrimp. When we got home, I heated mine up a tad in the convection oven. To drink: raspberry lemonade.
Dessert: split the last of the cupcake with Mr C. I let him have most of it.
Wouldn’t you know the blackened shrimp came back to bite me. I’m glad we’ve got Tums.
Linguine with red clam sauce, salad & garlic bread. Cabernet Sauvignon to drink & tiramisu for dessert.
