It's my birthday and it's a big, bad, milestone birthday. DH is taking me out to aplaceinn Chagrin Falls OH, hat overlooks the falls, and is supposed to have good foor and a great ambiance.
Last night I was determined to fix a nice meal for my family. Of course I had to have some help from my girls but one was in a foul mood. We had mashed potatoes and Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy.
This simple meal took almost 3 hours of prep and we didn't eat until 8 p.m. ...
NK, I am sorry you had such a hard time! Teenagers can be ornery, and I guess yours was. That's really too bad. I hope things get better soon!

NoKudzu, glad you're cooking again. I love the idea of salisbury steak and gravy, but I've actually never made it. I thought they do look similar to hamburger patties?
We went to the State Fair of Texas today, yeehaw! I had the requisite greasy carbs.
Dinner is leftover sauteed mushrooms and green beans from a Chinese lunch yesterday (over rice). I'm going to add some almonds.
I'm cooking a bit more, so thought I'd pop in and kinda record what we had. Tonight was smothered pork chops with "corn" bread muffins and broccoli-cauliflower mix. First time trying the pork recipe and the "corn" bread recipe - both delicious and low-carb!
