Sometimes it's hard to believe that 1986 was so long ago!

Florida is one of the largest cattle states in the country. I believe the largest herd in the country is in Florida. Also big dairy producer.

I would find it hard to believe that Florida would produce more beef then say, Texas, Nebraska, Montana, or really any plains state...

What does Florida produce with Cattle ? Milk ? Fertilizer ? I would assume that 90% of Floridas cattle are north of Orlando.

I laughed when I saw the deer on that page, Florida Deer make Tennessee's deer look like steroid filled giants..

The Key Deer don't need to need to be as big as the ones up north because it doesn't get cold here, so that's how they evolved. I thought an 18 year Florida native would know that, I guess not

Florida's cattle have always been a trivia question about Florida. It is one of the reasons you have to be careful living on developed cattle farms. They would dig big ditches and fill them with water. Then add arsenic to dip the cattle. They would walk the cows through the water filled ditch. The ground would become completely contaminated and it lasts for a long time. There are places in west Broward and palm beach county where people are probably living on top of soil that may be unsafe. In the housing booms of the 60's and 70's they bought up a lot of that land and built like crazy. There is an area in western Broward where it is advised you never let children play in the yards and hose off before coming in the house. The development was built on top of a contaminated dump site.
