It's a coincidence, but ever since this thread was posted, I've REALLY noticed guys wearing (rubber) flip flops - and I say "ugh" to myself.

Of course, to each his own. Just glad I'm not within nostril distance of those shoes.

I really don't care - as long as their feet look ok...it's not that new and trendy...I grew up in the 70s in SoCal and guys were wearing them then too...

IMO it is weird to not wear flipflops.

i grew up in SC, and live at the beach, though. "casual" doesn't quite cover it where i am.. if you are sober and have a shirt on, then you're above average.

but even when i didn't live at the beach, flipflops were pretty standard for any nonwork, nonformal wear from March to November. Rainbows are popular, so are reefs.

Why are so many people looking at other people's feet?

Anyway, the weather here is usually between 85-95+ from June through August or September, and unless someone can suggest something as comfortable and convenient as flip flops, I'm wearing them.

Why do women complain about not liking what men wear, but fail to offer any real suggestions? They did the same thing in the shorts thread.

For the record, my girlfriend hates them too. But she quit complaining about them after I asked her if she knew of an alternative that is just as comfortable and convenient in hot weather.

I don't really wear flip flops but it seems like most of the 20 something women that I know prefer flip flops with shorts on guys.

I think rubber flip-flops belong at the beach (or the locker room), but a nice leather thong-type sandal usually looks great on anybody. I also think something like this is the best option for dudes that don't want to wear sandals:

Sperry Top-Sider Men's Largo Slip-On
