While it doesn't matter what other people wear, I wouldn't personally wear them. I think that the last time I owned them, they were considered "shower shoes" for when you were sharing the shower with other people--so that you didn't risk getting athlete's foot from someone else. Now I share the shower with one other person at most.

I'm surprised to hear the room smelled of feet because of the guys wearing flip flops. I thought that smell only came from the feet being trapped inside damp and sweaty shoes for a period of time.
I have one pair of flip flops and I wear them only to the beach. I don't find them comfortable to walk in. I have sandals and I don't even like them all that much. But they're better than flip flops. I think flip flops look foolish with long pants.
You'd be surprised to find out how gross and sweaty rubber flip-flops can get. Coupled with undergrads that aren't the most reliable with personal hygiene.
Agreed, flip flops look strange with pants. Secondly, women everywhere enjoy wearing them too. Not being sexist here, but flip flops can appear to be on the effeminate side with men, especially white-colored ones.
I wear flip flops when its hot or I'm going to the beach. When it gets hot (over 100F), I rather not wear socks and shoes. I have worn flip flops with jeans when I go to the beach at night or if I know I'm gonna be out late, I'll just wear long jeans. Does anyone seriously expect someone to switch to shoes after a particular time or location?
I wear flip flops with jeans all the time. Not the nasty ratty rubber ones - stitched leather ones. I don't always feel like wearing shorts out, but if I keep my feet relatively cool, the rest of my body is usually okay.
My middle-age boss sometimes wears flip flops at work. He is rather immature and effeminate so there you go. I'm sure the main reason most men don't wear flip flops as much as women do is because of how noisy they are. Men don't usually want noisy shoes, unless they are a showy, flamboyant type.
I hate those flip flops that have the big toe divider on them they are repulsive and disgusting on anyone. I don't mind sandals at all or flip flops as long as they don't have that toe thing on them.
