Well, hello, my lovely CDers!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I got "permanent" eyeliner today. It's not really permanent because it will fade, probably over 3-10 years but meanwhile, it's here to stay. It's a very similar process to eyebrow microblading, which I have also done and which I am VERY pleased with.

Like the eyebrows, the eyeliner involves numbing cream (and lots of it apparently) and abrasion of the skin and then a tattoo type of application with something that sounded like a tattoo thingie. My eyes were shut and when the artist held down the lower lash line, I rolled my eyes up so I wouldn't be able to see the drill thing, because to be honest it sort of freaked me out.

She said she had to add more numbing stuff to me because she had to go deeper because my skin is thicker. Which she said is good for retaining the liner. I hope so.

Anyway, I have to admit, it wasn't comfortable but it wasn't terrible either. I would post a photo but my eyes are still a bit swollen. I can't wear mascara or any other eye makeup products for about a week to ten days - it depends on how much scaling happens when. That sounds worse than it is - I mean, it wasn't bad for the eyebrows and I don't expect it to be bad for the eyeliner.

This particular artist has been doing this for over 20 years and I love her work. It looks very natural. I didn't want a stark, harsh look to either my eyebrows or eyeliner and she knows me well enough to know I want to simply have a natural look now that I'm older and my hairs are thinner.

I have very dark hairs naturally and dark eyes but very light skin so I had her go black on the eyeliner and brown black on the brows (but no reddish anything - she put something that actually had a greenish tint to it on them instead and it looks great). This was just a touch up on the brows - I had them done very conservatively (by her) several years ago and I wanted them a bit darker because I was still using some eyebrow product sometimes.

She went very thin in the under eye lashes and a bit thicker on the upper eye lashes. The most uncomfortable part was as she got very close to the inside corners of my eyes. But hey, I would do it again so it clearly wasn't that bad!

Pictures in a few days!

I am having a party at my house tomorrow night and she said I should be fine for that. Yay!

Congratulations!!!

So how will that look in a year or two, will this fade, as in wash out like a tattoo?

I just got microneedling on my eyes (plasma pen) a week ago for rejuvenation as I have developed droopy eyelids. I look like I have a henna tattoo around my eyes . I hope the scabs fall off soon.

I had mine done back in '04 and it has faded to a soft black; my DH said it still looks pretty and I have had women ask how I line my eyes (I'm blind) . I keep meaning to have it done again.

I also had my lips colored (now THAT hurt!). It has also faded to a soft rose color and still looks nice with gloss.

I'll bet that you will look terrific. I hope you enjoy it.

Thx for sharing this KA! I'm on the fence about eyebrow microblading. My daughter-in-law had it done and it looks fantastic but I don't want to go across the country to use her technician : ) I'm fairly new in my town so I don't know anyone personally who has had it done here but the eyebrows would be the first area to get done.

I think if the eyeliner fades over time you'll have a smoky, smudged liner look which is what I do when I wear eyeliner - I do a little smudging with a q-tip so it sounds like you'll be fine for many years. Good for you! You're a woman who takes care of yourself.

Supposedly these will still look good in a year or two - for at least three to five years. We'll see.

This morning my eyelids are a bit red and swollen but not terrible. I really like how she did the color and the line though.

My eyes hurt worse this morning than they did last night but I can put ice on them or put eyedrops in if it gets worse. Not bad enough for that at this point.

Oh I hope so - yours sounds lovely by the way. I have heard that the lip color hurts and doesn't last as long so I will probably forego that one but I can promise you that if I couldn't see well enough to put some makeup on I'd have it done permanently too!

Thank you! I do the whole smoky thing myself too so this line is a new one for me. I like it though - I like not having to do anything basically except put on some lipstick. I don't like a heavily made up look.

You know what I'd do about the eyebrow microblading? I'd read every review and look closely at the real photos online from customers. Then I'd do it. I'd go to someone who has a conservative approach personally. The woman I went to for both procedures initially went one step too light colorwise and VERY conservative shape wise on my brows. They lasted a bit over two years and were still going strong but the color was one shade too light so when they faded a bit (I don't wear sunscreen around my eyes because they are sensitive to it - in retrospect I should have put some sunscreen on my brows) in the past few months I have been using a eyebrow pencil a bit. So the shape was great and she just did a touch up on the color. I love them! She said now they should last at least five years. I hope so.

We were back and forth between the two colors anyway and I opted to go the more conservative route the first time. No regrets though.

My eyelids are a bit more sore this morning than last night. Not bad though. I can use an ice pad on them if they get worse.

I was one of those young teens who plucked my eyebrows out to almost non-existence in the sixties. Actually, a girlfriend did my eyebrows and I did hers. We thought we looked great, not knowing that our eyebrows would never be the same again.

I had mine done about the same time as you. Eyeliner and brows didn't hurt, just a weird buzzing sensation. But OH the lips---wow, they hurt. And it didn't last more than a year, whereas the brows and eyeliner still looks good, almost 20 years later. I had it done by a facial surgeon's assistant in their surgical suite.

I'm fair so need some accenting or it's just too plain. I quit wearing makeup when I retired and can "get away with it" due to the permanent makeup. One of my "better" choices, lol.
