The European (NATO) missile defense system has universal launch containers Mk.41. And NATO has Tomahawks. And Russia is not allowed to inspect it. These are facts.

They've had public protests to release political prisoners in the recent past. The government uses undercover police to attack protestors. Most of the repression is directed at the Shia population.

They have very low success rate and can only seriously be used as part of a first strike strategy against retaliatory barrage where the surviving launch sites are known.

On the Syria, Russia, israel subject.

It's pretty much official now that Syria has lost 2 Pantsirs to Israeli attack. The first instance last spring was because the Pantsir was out of munitions and therefore shut down. It could not defend itself.

The Pansir that was destroyed a few weeks ago was abandoned because its radar system had malfunctioned. There were several missiles fired at it (possibly up to 5) which were destroyed. The final missile hit the Pantsir some minutes after the initial attack largely wrecking it. Apparently there was a mechanical failure due to battlefield conditions or a near miss from a prior missile attack knocked out its radar leaving it vulnerable.

Both of these units were caught out in the open, exposed to attack. The Syrian army is not taking measures to hide/protect units that cannot defend themselves when this happens.

They can do whatever the hell they want, the US should not be involved on any level. It is an issue strictly internal to the country, and calling someone a bird does not make them so, in this case calling Maduro not the president does not make him so.

Interesting though how the US continued to supply support to Egypt when Morsi came to power, against the Egyptian constitution, and continued to provide support when the military coup ousted him, again, against the constitution. So it seems the US really does not have an issue with countries following their own constitutions (which is still the most ridiculous argument that makes zero sense, in your logic, the constitution could say "execute all Jews" and that would be fine to you since hey, they are obeying their constitution), the US only cares if the person in power aligns with the US or not.

That is a sea based system, deployed on sea based platforms.

As long as it has a strong economy and wealthy population, nothing drastic is going to change.

It's also the reason why even Putin wants to make deals with them. He understands the country's position.
That is all fine, all of it is, but this BS of some grand moral cause is ridiculous. The US intervening in Venezuela because of some moral superiority is straight BS.

It is a fact, straight up fact, that if Maduro was on very friendly terms with the US, the US would not be taking the position it is doing now, just as the US took anti-democracy positions in the past when the people elected an anti-US leader.

So yea, USA, do as you want, but quit with the BS moral superiority reasoning for it.

No. This is a universal launcher. The US broke Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty and deployed Mk41 in Eastern Europe in 2014 (or in 2015, I don't remember exactly).

Yes. But Russia should have similar systems for parity.

Минобороны предлагает США уничтожить:
- развернутые на суше универсальные пусковые установки Мk-41, разработанные для запуска крылатых ракет «Tomahawk»;
- ракеты-мишени, аналогичные по своим характеристикам баллистическим ракетам наземного базирования средней и меньшей дальности;
- ударные беспилотные летательные аппараты, подпадающие по своим характеристикам под определение предусмотренного в Договоре термина «крылатая ракета наземного базирования».В Минобороны России приглашен военный атташе при посольстве США в Москве для вручения этой ноты.

Google translate:
The Russian Defense Ministry proposes the United States to destroy:
- the Mk-41 universal launchers deployed on land, designed to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles;
- target missiles, similar in their characteristics to ground-based medium-range and shorter-range ballistic missiles;
- impact unmanned aerial vehicles, which fall under their characteristics under the definition of the term “ground-based cruise missile” provided for in the Treaty.
A military attache at the US embassy in Moscow has been invited to the Russian Defense Ministry to deliver this note.
