How far is it from Elpaso to Juarez?

You could probably walk over in less than a minute. By car it could take several hours..

I never had any problem with the local civilians. There's a lot to do if you're careful and just mind your p's and q's, same as when you're in any foreign country. Don't wander off the main streets, don't take taxi rides from those guys who pressure you to, and trust your instincts. As someone else said, daytime is the safest.

The police on the other hand...

My friends and I were basically robbed (took our cash, watches, etc) by the cops on two different occasions. The latter occasion we were off the main drag, trying to find a buddy who had wandered off. So again, just stick to the main drags and you should be alright.

Even not all the cops are bad. Some will go out of their way to be helpful. Maybe it's half and half (maybe less) -- but I had an accident once over there and obviously not everyone was "helpful" but some of the cops were as helpful as they could be.

Is there gambling in Juarez? I'm going there for dental work, but I would love to play poker while I am there if it is safe? Is it legal there? Thanks.
