Ive been reading all sorts of threads that say teacher should'nt date students and what not. I just have one question
If an elementary teacher meets a boy/girl in neutral ground (meaning not in school) and the boy/girl turns out to be an 18 year old senior in the same district as the teacher. Is it still wrong for them to date even if that teacher is not his/her teacher?
Ive read that its not right for teachers to date students, but the reason people give is that it creates a conflict of interest. Here the teacher does not even work in the same school as the student, but they are still in the same district
the student is clearly considered to be an adult at 18 and the teacher has never been or will never be that student's teacher.
Is this relationship still unacceptable?? please give your opinions
btw lets say the age difference is very minimal maybe 5-10 years difference... not a 40 year old going with a 18 year old
hmmmm....that sounds like it could turn out bad. At one end, it would seem alright since you are not the student's teacher so there is no conflict of interest. If the student were in a different district it would look a little better.
It is none of anyone's business, but it seems odd that a person who has already gone through college and started a career would want to date a high school kid. The difference of maturity has to be quite a bit. What's more, the student will grow and change a lot over the next few years. It seems odd to me - even if it is only a five or ten year difference.
Are you kidding me? Anybody who would even consider this is thinking with his nether regions, not with his brain. This is a bad, BAD idea. There a just so many ways for this situation to go terribly wrong. Listen, it's March, so there are only a few more months of school. I strongly suggest waiting until after graduation, perhaps even college graduation.

Exactly. Are you really that eager to throw your career down the drain? There are NO teaching jobs out there to fall back on if something goes wrong!
Is it possible you've already acted upon your attraction and you're looking to us for exculpation. Sorry, no dice. You're not going to get the go-ahead from me, and it looks as if the rest of the contributors of the thread are in agreement. Good God man, can't you wait a few months to minimize the risk of throwing away your career?

If there is that much attraction there, wait a few months until they graduate.
