I have heard this by news broadcasters, media political analysts, 60Minutes, etc. It is just disgusting to hear from these people, who are paid for speaking. It should not be so hard for them.

Larry King usually properly pronounces the first R in libRary, and the R in FebRuary. Cool.
He has standards.
i dunno, i think larry king is way too past his prime to be on air anymore. maybe he is getting a case of the alzheimers or something. anyways i catch him messin up sometimes. speaking of people being paid to speak, how bout when they say "vigual" instead of vigil?

Perhaps this explains why that is where I first met people that said, "INK PEN." They needed to differentiate between a pen and a pin.

Maybe, but there are very few out there who even give a darn anymore. It's no wonder that so many of us cannot spell correctly. Often, if a letter is not pronounced, it just drops off. Larry King is not bad if he does not have a showbiz personality on. He, like Barbara Walters, manages to get a lot of information out of a person without being obnoxious or insulting. That is often the product of good breeding.

I have not noticed 'vigual', though. Your ear is better attuned to that.

Half the teachers I know do not speak like that, Thank Goodness! Why do we always want to blame teachers? LOL

By the time they come to us they have already had years to learn bad habits from their parents!

The WORST is " I'm fixin' to get me something to drank, youontsomethin (one word)". followed by "I be gettin ready to go, youonttogo (one word also)".

im not sayin that larry says "vigual" but listen to everyone (on t.v.) next time there is a well publicized death and they will say "the vigual (vigggg-jooo-uhl) will be held tommorrow night".
