Great to hear that Chevy is doing well! He looks wonderful! There's a pretty female Corgi who comes to a dog park where I bring my dog; and she is very overweight at four, so I worry a bit for her. My dog is eleven, so I know how you feel; it's hard to realize that our dogs are no longer young...

Thanks! He really is a beautiful Corgi. The first picture was taken on his birthday! He's not easy to get pictures of,but when he cooperates they're awesome!
We have always tried to feed Chevy healthy food and treats. He does get a little morsel or two of human food from time to time plus whatever we drop! LOL. With the back issues Corgis can have I worry when I see an overweight one as well. We try to play ball with him every day along with several walks a week.
A Facebook friend of my wife's has a Corgi who is 16 and going strong. SHe's had her since she was 14!! So,there's hope for our boy to live a nice long life!
Well,I have gone several years without updating this thread.
However,I'm so happy to tell you that Chevy is still alive and well! He turned 9 in February.and yesterday was his gothca day! Hard to believe! He has a little white in his muzzle now,and sometimes one of his legs hurts him a little. He can still chase a ball, and run off squirrels like a champ though. We took him to Florida with us last year after boarding him while were gone for the first 8 years of his life. It was great!
We are so blessed to still have Chevy around, and love him more all the time. I hope he lives forever, but the sad reality is that he more than likely has more years behind him than ahead of him. Hurts me to think of losing him! We will just continue to enjoy our time with him!
Well folks,Chevy the Corgi is still with us and going strong! This thread is ten years old now! When we got home,it was the end of the first decade of the new millenium, and the end of my thirties. Now here we are in 2019,and I'm pushing 50? Where has the time gone??
I am so happy our boy is still with us! He continues to be an amazing friend and companion. Such an awesome breed! We love him to death!!
We took a walk, played ball, and went and got a Sonic drink today. We rode out to our local lake with him,and got supper also. We will take him on a big round tomorrow for his official gotcha day trip!
So glad Chevy is doing well!
I just lost my Shermyn at age 13 this past week. I knew he was "winding down" (his back legs got really weak in the past couple months), but he was still hungry and playful (and stubborn) up until the last day. He was a little lethargic and didn't want his breakfast. I had known the day was coming, and thought if he seemed to be in any distress when I got home, it would probably mean that last trip to the vet. I went home from work early and he was still alive but just lying in his bed. Within a couple hours, he passed peacefully while I was petting him and talking to him. I hate losing my boy, but it was really the "perfect" way for him to pass. At home, in his bed, with his mommy.
I remember when you first got Chevy, and Shermyn is several years older. But it's been kind of cool sharing these corgi updates for a decade!
