I am not one to suggest meds at the drop of a hat, but a dog with storm/firework phobias is suffering. The Xanax is given only as needed about an hour before the storm begins or in the case of fireworks, an hour or so before dusk. OP you are also dealing with the additional concern that your pup might potentially re-injure herself. Please talk to your vet about meds/Xanax, and be sure to ask about dosage and re-dosing so that if she doesn't appear to be responding to the first dose you know whether or not it is safe to re-dose and when.
Yep, Acepromazine is nasty stuff.
