Denver is the perfect size for me. Crowded in all the right spots and peaceful and quiet in others. Compared to the DC metro area, this place sometimes doesn't feel crowded ENOUGH.

I agree. I prefer cities that are small and dense. Like San Diego or Portland. Denver is too sprawled out and deserted for my tastes. It is too car-dependant and unwalkable. This is actually one of the only things I don't like about Denver. That and the lack of decent jobs.

There is nothing crowded about Denver. Except the strip clubs every night.

Unemployment statistics are worthless. They are usually indicating how many new claims are filed and how many people are currently receiving benefits. They don't take into account people who's benefits have ran out or aren't able to file for one reason or another.

The unemployment rate is sky high at 5.6% and rising.

Denver has had four snowfalls in about 4 or so weeks, so be prepared. Snow= colder temperatures=costly heating bills=roadway accidents=slower commutes=wasted time.

housing forclosure rates are skyhigh. The Denver housing market held its own for a long time, but ever changing times and major shifting economy has slowed new homes sales and existing home sales. Remember: Most people don't want to sell now.

If you're looking to start a business-good luck. There is a lot of competition here.

If you're moving here(Denver) mainly to ski or frequent the mountains, you might want to think twice. The major highway(s) leading to the mountains oftn close due to dangerous conditions AND I-70 usually moves at a snails pace on most weekends and holidays especially during a big winter storm.

If you're from a state that has a hands free law in effect, don't expect Denver to follow suit. I think Denver has the fewest citizens with bluetooth hands free technology. Welcome to the world of dangerous cell phone drivers.

Denver has a cripled DMV. The DMV is so backlogged with driving infractions/violations right now. Right now there are thousands of dangerous drivers in Denver and the state of Colorado who are driving with **** poor driving records because the state is overwhelmed. There are only 17 hearing officers to boot. Also, the DMV computer systems are very very outdated helping to create more of a delay. Supposidly, the only drivers that lose their license almost immediatly is a driver that has committed vehicular homicide while other "bad" drivers get to drive around racking up points on their license with no penalty.

You will spend plenty of money on auto repairs for damage and/or alignment problems suffered from driving on very poor road surfaces.
Hows about this...you drag yourself out of this great state because we could use ONE less bitchn' whiny person !

Maybe you could move to a state that includes a dictionary or a spell checker for your computer in their welcome pack.

An OP like that gives me bitter beer face and I only have coffee.

Sumtin' stinks because Denver is a great place to live.

BTW - take a drive to Colorado Springs...talk about out of state plates? Honey, with the military down here you've got plates from all over...

As for all the issues, yes, it's nationwide and someone seems a bit butthurt. Oy.

But if it's measured the same way everywhere then it can still make a relatively decent indicator even though it's not 100% accurate? Besides the numbers change on a daily (even hourly) basis based on some people getting new jobs and others losing their job. So an estimate is really the best you'll ever get... unless you know how to harness these temps and freeze time too.

Hm... I didn't know that states offered welcome packs, especially ones that came with free software. I feel jipped... Colorado owes me my welcome pack!!!!!!! I bet it includes a shove and sunscreen too!
