No, it is not. And that is my challenge with all the media reports. Either they intentionally confuse people or they are just picking up data that is available without paying attention to what they are actually reporting.

- Edited notes from my previous post:
Based on data provided by Mayor of Dallas, the DFW Covid-19 specific hospitalizations has increased 16% for DFW region, from 602 on 6/5 to 701 on 6/15, while it has increased by 25% for the whole of Texas, from 1865 on 6/5 to 2326 on 1/15.

But why are you quoting numbers for a different date range?

The article today quoted increases since Memorial day.

P.S. On May 25, there were about 520 patients in DFW, and about 1500 in Texas. Everything is pretty much consistent, what is the problem?

Based on the data within graph above, statewide increase for COVID-19 hospitalizations is 47% (NOT 67%) from 1578 on 5/22 to 2326 (from Mayor's email) on 6/15. The % increase for DFW COVID-19 hospitalizations is 34% (NOT 48%) for that period based on 520 from your email (NEED TO VALIDATE THIS NUMBER) for 5/22 to 701 on 6/15 (from Mayor's email) . It is frustrating that the media outlets do not see it important to report consistent information and not compare apples to oranges.

Ok, look the article is from TODAY (6/16): 765 in DFW, 2518 in Texas.

On May 25 (Memorial Day) , there were 1511 hospitalizations in Texas

(2518-1511)/1511 = 66.7% Yes, you could take 5/22, and it would be a bit different, so what?

The DFW number for 5/25 was from an earlier post on this thread, there was a link to an excel file (the data there was matching the numbers for your dates).

(765-521)/521 = 47%. OK, fine, it is 47%, not 48% ...

Of course, it would be better to use several day moving averages anyway, but again , all of the above is broadly consistent.

Please do watch this video. It is well articulated by the Governor as to why there is no reason to panic.

Today (june 16), Texas reported 4412 new cases?

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/
Is that a error?

Texas Department of Health and Human Services says the following on their website, "The reported cases for June 16 include 2,622 new cases and 1,476 cases that were previously diagnosed among Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmates but that had not been reported by local health departments (887 from Anderson County and 589 from Brazoria County)."

Value of masks against CV-19 called into question. FWIIW lots of medical people have been saying similar under their breath for months.

So, basically, don't panic even though Texas screwed the pooch by opening too quickly (and against White House guidelines) and is now seeing a major spike because there will be an ICU bed available for you.

Who knew that opening while your state is literally at the peak of infections is a bad idea?
