I think the public gatherings thing was specifically for this weekend. Since they did not cap all businesses, churches, public pools, etc to 10 people at a time, I don’t think that would apply to schools either.

But yeah, I’m thinking it’s less and less likely that school is either starting on time or going to be in person at all.

Day cares / Summer camps are already open. My neighbor has two kids 4 & 6 and both of them are in summer camp for the last couple of weeks since his wife has to go to office full time and he couldn't manage them while working from home.

As far as schools, lot of school districts are offering option of Virtual or In-person class.

"Later Thursday, in an interview with Univision in Dallas, Abbott also signaled he might be rethinking plans to open the state's public schools for in-person classes this fall, after state officials said last month that it would be safe."

let us imagine the worst case scenario, in two to three weeks, hospital beds and ICU beds may reach 100% capacity but the new case still rise as a tsunami, what should we do at that time?

There are doctors in Texas who are already having to make decisions about who gets a hospital bed, and who doesn't. I personally think only the maskers should get beds, and non-maskers have to wait.

Probably whatever Harris and Bexar Counties are already having to do. We're lagging a bit here in Dallas County, but I'm sure we'll do our darndest to catch up. City of Dallas, of you check out their COVID dashboard, has been hovering in the low-70s for ICU bed percentage usage over the last couple of weeks.

Plano (and I think Frisco also) have sent notices to parents asking to choose between in-person and virtual lessons for Fall. Almost everyone we know have signed up for virtual lessons.

I support this statement. We've all been warned months ago by countries who actually have this thing at least somewhat under control. If people want to be dunces and play Russian Roulette well they can wait for when and if a bed opens up. Mask On! and stop being so social. 2020 is teaching the USA several lessons if we care to listen and learn.

Hoping Abbott pushes it up at least until after labor day. That's when schools used to start back in the day and we all survived. My district starts on August 12th. With the virus raging, that's insane.

I have not received that notice yet. Was it sent through email?
