Again though if you go to a tourist area you’ve never been to, and you see several dozen people all doing the same thing and no one who works there doing anything to stop them, why would you think it’s not OK to do that?
Because you actually read the park safety literature handed out to you when you entered the park, and also read the numerous posted warning signs telling visitors to stay well away from the animals?

Yes, people are lemmings. But see post 163 above^^. The rangers can't be everywhere.

I’m just saying if I’m at a tourist spot and I see a large crowd gathered looking at something, I’m going to go over and join them to see what they’re looking at. I think most people would.
I think most people would assume if there’s a crowd there and no one who works there is stopping anyone, than it’s not a dangerous situation.
I guess you haven't spent a lot of time in Yellowstone. There aren't park employees watching the animals nor the tourists 99% of the time. Yellowstone is larger than many states and only has a few Ranger Smiths to watch out for Yogi, BooBoo and all the visitors.

I get wanting to see what others are looking at but did you see that the girl was MUCH closer to the buffalo then anyone else was, why would her parents be that far off let alone not holding her hand?

It happens, she wandered off for a second. No one is arriving at Yelliowstone thinking they are in a dangerous place where you have to clutch children’s hands at all times and being in guard. I think many interpret the animals as not likely dangerous just by the fact they let people there around them at all without any barriers. I think judging by the crowd many people think this. These people just didn’t know any better than any of the others, but they are not uniquely stupid or incompetent to be parents because of the way they i terprted the entire situation. I also think they didn’t give it that much thought, things happen very quickly and it’s very easy to Monday morning quarterback.
Yellowstone....wild animals...and people go because of the nature and wild animals...plenty of previous videos of people getting hurt by wild animals...
Is this rocket science? No - just stupid people.
