In New York City and that area, WNJU-TV (TEL) channel 47 of Linden, NJ has WNBC-TV (NBC) channel 4 as their subchannel. Yep.

Then there's the separation issue with WFSB-TV (CBS) channel 3 and WCBS-TV (CBS) channel 2. Both use channel 36 for their digital transmissions. While WFSB comes off of Avon Mountain, I want to say that WCBS is still on the Empire State Building. Most are on, or will move to, One World Trade Center.

I also wonder if the city of license will change for WHPX-TV (ION) channel 26? At last check, they're still listed as New London. However, their transmitter was recently moved to Rattlesnake Mountain, the same place which has channels 20 (CW), 24 (PBS), 30 (NBC) and 61 (FOX).

I was talking about the WFSB vs. WCBS issue since that is a sharing that seems to partially hinder reception, I know all about digital subchannels.

As for channel 26, that is a good question. While there a lots of cases of transmitters not being in the same city as that of license, that is a pretty far distance between the two, almost enough to be considered to be in a different Nielsen market etc. (though I think they consider all of CT other than FFC to be the Hartford-New Haven Nielsen market, with Fairfield County being part of the NYC Neilsen market).

Correct about Connecticut TV markets.

As for New London? Barring any other changes, they're physically closer to the ION station from Block Island/Providence. Last I knew, WPXQ-TV channel 69 had their transmitter in Exeter, RI, very close to the CT border.

Anyway, I found this nifty chart: https://www.rabbitears.info/market.p...arket&mktid=36

WCTX-TV (MY) is actually channel 59, if you refer to its legacy analog channel. It only says "8" because they're actually channel sharing the WTNH-TV signal. I think they're channel 8-3, yet your TV would display "59-1".

When I switch to that one, it shows full bars but then says no signal. I may have to rescan.

Curious, is antenna use still needed? is this for the more rural parts of CT?
