Some rain totals from yesterday.. Good for the wells or is the ground frozen too much? I think winter rains are pointless! Unless the Reservoirs need it I guess. Over 1/2" in many areas of CT...

After this upcoming week, we won't need to worry about water getting in the wells for a long time.

We might not see the freezing mark again until mid January. lol EuroEPS says at least 2 weeks. I somehow doubt that. A storm could ruin that streak itself.

The Polar Low Upton is talking about is right there this morning... (Low = Vortex)

The shaded colors are the temps at 5000'. That's a true Polar airmass under there. It will head to southern Ontario then break apart but a new one will rotate and come to Quebec next week

If you want to see it in action... Click this link and use that slider bar at the top and watch that Vortex and the Jet stream push down. Brrrrr

Same to you. Thanks. Nice to not be scared to say Merry Christmas now.

Next weeks storm is slowly fading out of the picture.

Cambium, any advice on travel for Christmas? We have to go from Hartford area to Falmouth, MA area for tomorrow. Could go tonight after say 8 or 9 PM, but I HATE to drive on Christmas Eve, because of fear of drunks on the road.

NOAA is saying wintry mix tonight, but doesn't give a start time. It seems as if it would be even worse early tomorrow AM. Can you tell yet when the wintry mix will start tonight?

Im at family right now and checking myself. Have to keep an eye on the actual radar.

Its such a tough forecast because it starts after 9pm but some spots might be ice, some all snow, some rain, some sleet, it might be so light that its no big deal..

Go before 9pm or after 10am tomorrow.

Thanks. Stay safe. Merry Christmas.

Looks like precip starting to show up as the coastal low takes form..

Check your temps.. if it looks like rain but your temp is 32 or colder its actually ice(freezing rain)
