Last night at 11pm Channel 4 News claimed the 89 degrees at JFK Airport was the highest temperature in the entire US at that time (as an example noting that Phoenix was "only" 79). Not sure I believe it but maybe.....

See above.

I've noticed that especially at LGA, and to some extent at Central Park, nighttime lows are averaging a lot higher the last couple of decades. While I think in general what Cambium calls "you-know-what" manifests itself more in nighttime lows than daytime highs, this is more pronounced there than in other places, even nearby places like BDR and EWR. And while a growing "urban heat island" would then make the most sense, I don't think LGA or Central Park are any more "urban" than the extreme urbanity they have been for decades. I mean a rise in nighttime lows in a place like Phoenix or Austin or Orlando I would attribute to a growing UHI, but not NYC. Anyway, still a mystery to me.....

Last year June didn't have any 90s!

I've noticed that BDL can often be one of the hottest places between NYC and Maine for daytime summer highs. And not recent either. A notable thing about that 98 is that in Central Park it is the only date in June whose record high is not 95 or above (it's 93, set in 1973 and 1919 and tied yesterday).

Wanted to compare LaGuardia to a suburb so I used White Plains.. White Plains was already in the 70s while LGA was still near 90°. lol

but take a look at this morning. White Plains rose so fast and is even 1 degree warmer than LaGuardia too.

weather.com is now saying 90 for New Britain's 06052. *DING!* Heat wave #2 now begins!

Portland, Maine will just miss out officially, as the Portland Jetport (PWM) "only" reached 89 degrees on Monday.

Not commenting on today. 1-2-3 knockout for me.

A lot of convective stuff out there. Torrential downpours in some areas. Lightning, wind damage, thunder, ect.
