Was there yesterday and seen a new crane and building. Nuts

136-unit apartment building approved for Norwalk-Westport border, including 'in-demand' 3-bedroom units

"The complex will be the result of combining several pieces of land, made up of 556 and 558 Westport Ave. and 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 Renzulli Road, according to city documents.

Currently, the Westport Avenue locations are home to a 12,300-square-foot empty commercial building, where a liquor store once operated, and a 6,200-square-foot dry-cleaning business, according to the documents. The remaining properties have single-family homes on site."

Single family homes in the area how was this thing approved?

relax, it's on US1, not a ton of single families on USI. There's already a large apt complex and the Pepperidge Farm offices right there.

More importantly to Norwalk/Westport development, I just learned that a Hot Haven Chicken opened in the area near Whole Foods. The New Haven location is one of Stylo's top recommendations.

Yes, it’s long been a commercial area. Don’t be surprised when Pepperidge Farm has something similar proposed soon. That’s a prime development site that won’t sit vacant long. Perfect for more apartments. Jay

Tell me that isn’t strange looking and out of place. That building hovers over the town like a Tower of Terror. You see it for miles. Old timers there are horrified. Rob and Laura Petre would be horrified. Jay

Yup! Really sad. See that building to the right of the tallest building in that picture? That was the tallest building in New Rochelle when I grew up there in the 80s & 90s. The "K" building.

I will have to try that, but I really really don’t like Milkcraft. Haven Hot Chicken and Oar and Oak Birdhouse have been tops for me for chicken sandwiches.

What’s “disgusting”? The city has long sought the development of that property and this is exactly what was hoped for. Should be very nice when completed. Jay

Cambium is probably looking at the extra traffic this might create. That area during rush hour gets interesting and with time it gets worse.

The plus is the walking distance to the shopping/dining part of SONO and the short distance to the Norwalk train station. It's a stone throw away from the new mall, but maybe far enough to require a car ride. Those are most likely the selling points regarding its vicinity.

Anything whether is an apartment complex, a park, an office complex, etc is preferable to a parking lot, IMO.

Sono is very attractive except for the Kremlin style building. Gorbachev himself must have built that thing.
