Well, it wasn't that bad. Did a little shoveling and cleaned the cars off this afternoon while it was still fluffy and didn't turn into ice like last week.

Steady rain, but not too heavy for the past couple of hours in lower Ct River Valley. Town streets clear down to pavement.

Was heavy, wet snow to start, now like cement.

Looks like the back end is strengthening. There are reports of thunder-snow in Virginia!! There was also a lightning strike northeast of Richmond VA about 30 mins ago. Hopefully we can hear some thunder tonight.

Update (4:30) -- many reports of thunder/lightning around DC area now.

Now for the Saturday storm, models continue to trend stronger and stronger and the 500mb upper air pattern actually supports a fairly significant snow storm. No model shows significant snowfall across the area yet, but they seem to be trending towards it, and up to 6+ inches may actually be in the cards for Saturday but they watching it closely !
