No it is really bad out there this morning and even if it gets better later that will be too late for a delay.
She worked from home and never logged on and did any work. So instead of penalizing that person, we are all punished. Sucks to take a vacation day yet still have to work.

I'm glad I stayed home though as it's a mess here in Norwalk. Hopefully my husband can leave New Haven early today.

Cambium, thank you for all of your updates and education on the weather. This is the first place I come to get the real story. Your hard work is much appreciated and respected.

Yup-- it's a measure of reflectivity, or the volume of water in the atmosphere.

One dBZ-scale of rain:
>65 Extreme
46-65 heavy
24-45 moderate
8-23 light
0-8 foggy

Snow is probably amplified. And here's the radar:

©NWS Upton Radar

That red shading near LI is 50 DBZ embedded (VERY heavy snow). 35-40 DBZ is over lower FFC atm.

NWS Boston ‏@NWSBoston 34m Technical: weather balloon launch from Chatham, MA @6am reveals colder/drier air aloft, delaying changeover 2 rain. http://ow.ly/tAsNy

Looks like the changeover may be delayed which could mean higher snow totals.

My gf had to work this morning in Fairfield at a coffee shop. Stupid if you ask me. She gets off at 2 or so and I'm guessing roads may be a mess at that time. Place should've stayed closed rather than stay open to serve a few nuts who go out.

Very heavy snow falling now(you can almost see the flakes in the pics). My issue will be where to put all the snow? See those 2 high mounds in front of my red car? They are already higher than the roof of the car from the last few storms. Ugh

This was 15 minutes after our plow came through...

Back of house:
My complex was smart enough to block off a couple parking spaces yesterday for it all. I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Haven't ever lived in a place with that kind of foresight. Though that could be in part due to last February (I wasn't here then).
