See on the right the freezing line is now in CT. So it's below freezing at 4000 feet in areas of dark blue.

And interesting where the heavy precip is "right now". Will that move south or stay????

I mean look at that precip shield.., is it me or is it much further north than one would think to give DC and Delaware the bullseye? This could set up a snowy late morning for CT..

Looks north but front should move south more as will the precip with it.

Current Alert Map. You don't see this in March every year. Winter Storm Warnings from SW Texas to Nantucket and nothing north of Merritt in CT. Seeing some crazy snow happening in Texas right now.

So its midnight and DC is at 45F, Hartford at 40F.

Was just looking at the temps & did a double take.. & 850 frz line still not pushed through CT yet.. THIS FRONT IS SLOW! Geesus! I keep getting moderate rain here too.

IF the precip intensity stays while the temps drop below freezing above then the areas you see in yellow and red here will wake up to half foot at least. But it should shift down as the push of cold air does too. Interesting setup here.

Im still rain here

3/5/15. 1am Radar Comparisons from different Sources. GRearth Top right with metars showing whos reporting what as the front sloowwly pushes south and east

Accuweather Top left
GREarth Top Middle
PSU Top Right
Intellicast Bottom Left
Weather Channel Bottom Middle
HAM Weather Bottom Right

Looks like HAM is the winner. Accuweather & GRearth tied for 2nd place.

I see nothing coming down yet, very slow moving and still mid 30's here. Hard to believe we are waking up to snow on the ground in just a few hours.

One thing is for sure..... We've lost a lot of qpf to rain. Could of been an inch+ worth of snow. Oh well. There's always next year for bigger than 8"+ in SWCT

Here we go.. Tolland changed and accumulating. It'll happen fast right down to the coast by 4am. So fascinating to see steady precip fall as rain in the 40s then slowly drop to 30s while still raining then 4000 foot temps go below freezing and the rain changes to snow. So awesome.

Follow the metars not the radar.

2:50am. Mix & snow making its way to the CT coast now. Hartford, Meriden, Willimantic, and Chester reporting light snow now. Litchfield county has some accumulation but you can see the northern side of the shield now.

Temps still upper 30s in NJ & Long Island but they are next to change..
