I heard something that this may be a very "hot" summer with temps exceeding 95 degrees daily!

Wow, just posted that in the Weather forum. YUP! That big storm changed the entire pattern. Remember that big October snowstorm then the warm winter? Guess that's what we need is a big storm to change the flow.

Here's the new discussion.. Spring on folks. Start those seeds.

So...

Bridgeport, CT mean temp departure so far is -5.1° which is 3rd coldest.
NYC mean temp departure so far this month -5.3° which is only 33rd coldest

That's the 1869 vs 1948 Record Period difference.

Windsor Locks, CT mean temp departure so far is -7.0 which is 3rd coldest. Impressive!

Burlington, VT tied for 1st coldest March on record since 1884! Mean of 20.7°! Now that's impressive.

It's almost like they had to remind the general public that spring actually exists given this past winter.

We are so lucky that cold air didnt hit Connecticut. I could see another 10-15 inches of snow for Maine, however.

For some reason Central Park has a ton of real cold Marches in the 1800s and early 1900s (1960 is the only one in the top 10 to be after 1917!) At one time I thought a combination of "global warming" and more so urban heat island vs. transition months (there's a similar pattern with Septembers......1963 is the only top 10 coldest after 1918!), but the fact that Burlington is tied for 1st with an almost similar length of record makes me wonder....

(though I bet Burlington started out with a "downtown" station a la Central Park then went to an airport station that's actually a few miles from the "urban heat island"......Albany, NY has more 1800s "warm" records and recent "cold" records than other stations with a similar history, and the reason is that somewhere along the way the station moved from downtown to the airport a few miles into the suburbs.......the few weather stations that have always been at or close to the urban core (Reagan National Airport is a good example, barely moved from central DC) tend to be very top heavy with pre-1920 "cold" records and post-1980 "warm" records, though I believe Logan Airport in Boston is still at one of the top 10 Marches)
