My cousin still has 8-10" in Putnam county NY. Anyone have an updated snow cover map?

My property is surrounded by really, really tall trees. Their shade keeps the snow around much longer then many of my neighbors.

Fun Fact:

  • Every April since 1949 Bridgeport,CT has hit at least 66°.
  • Only 8 times did not hit 70°. (meaning we get a max temp of 70 or above most Aprils on record)
  • 20 times hit 80°+
  • Only once above 90. Hit 91°(April 1990)
Sounds like the max for April sees 70s a lot. But keep in mind this is the max for the month. It could of been just 1 day hitting it that year. Don't use it as a perspective of how April temps are. Just thought it was fun to see what the max was.

My prediction (based on nothing but recent/past history) is that Philly gets whacked again and the storm slides to our south.

grecostimpy- I am also surrounded by woods and still have quite the snowpack too. Probably a couple inches in most areas, though I am seeing patches of grass here and there. The shadiest areas still have quite a bit of snow and the mounds from shoveling/snowblowing the driveway are still huge. Not as huge as they were a few weeks ago, but still quite impressive.

My snowpack is quickly dwindling. Everywhere is still covered with 2-4 inches except where I cleared to get a path and above the septic tank.

Here's the modeled snow cover for March 20th, by the NOHRSC.

It looks like as you go up in elevation, the snow sticks around, as others have said.

Take a look at Northern New England... WOW! Mount Mansfield has 80+ inches right now.

Moderate cold rain here. Almost 1/2" rate per hr. 36°F. 0.22" for the day. Warm front stalling near the coast.

Quick Update on March 25-26 Storm:

Here's a look at the 850mb temps and surface pressure from the 00z models. GFS, Canadian & Euro.
The most fascinating thing about next week is that its not marginal! I mean this time of year we're typically looking at marginal temps but the temp profile setup is COLD! It's just a matter of where the storm will be now.

Euro and GFS keep it WELL OFF SHORE but brush us with some light snow. No biggy.
Canadian is the most amped and closest to us. Showing an insane 979mb low in perfect spot for a big event.

Bottom line... the storm is still there and they all agree its coming up the atlantic, now its just a matter of how close and how much the Jet Streams Phase. That we will know better by Sunday morning. Unless they "ALL" start to agree sooner.

It'll come... Only problem is...it goes. NWS NY mentions this...

AS WE HAVE SEEN FOR MUCH OF MARCH...THIS WARM UP WILL BE SHORT LIVED AS COLD HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS BACK INTO THE REGION FROM SATURDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY

I am seeing a warmup in the "long range" I'm watching. But its 2 weeks out so its hard to believe. We might have to wait another couple weeks. We'll see. Enjoy todays 50s if we get there. Clouds might prevent that I haven't checked the latest forecasts
