Northern New England gearing up for the POTENTIAL -- CT currently DOES NOT have any HWOs. Again, what's posted is for parts of New Hampshire and Maine regarding the low:

NWS Gray ME

Hazardous Weather Outlook:

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR WESTERN MAINE...CENTRAL NEW
HAMPSHIRE...NORTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND SOUTHEASTERN NEW HAMPSHIRE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

A COASTAL STORM MAY BRING SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION TO COASTAL
AREAS TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.
ACCUMULATION TOTALS WILL BE
DEPENDENT ON THE TRACK OF THE COASTAL LOW... BUT AT THIS TIME
COASTAL AREAS HAVE THE GREATEST CHANCE OF SEEING SIGNIFICANT
ACCUMULATIONS.

NWS Caribou ME

532 AM EDT FRI MAR 21 2014

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR EAST CENTRAL MAINE...NORTH
CENTRAL MAINE...NORTHERN MAINE...SOUTHEAST MAINE AND WEST CENTRAL
MAINE.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

A STRONG OCEAN LOW IS EXPECTED TO TRACK EAST OF THE REGION TUESDAY
NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
HOWEVER...THE EXACT TRACK AND INTENSITY
OF THE LOW REMAIN UNCERTAIN. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS TUESDAY NIGHT
INTO WEDNESDAY WILL BE DEPENDENT ON THE EVENTUAL TRACK OF THE LOW.
AT THIS TIME...THE BETTER CHANCES FOR HEAVIER SNOW APPEAR TO BE
ACROSS DOWNEAST AREAS. THE LOW COULD ALSO BRING GUSTY
WINDS...PARTICULARLY ACROSS DOWNEAST AREAS.

I can finally see my grass enough to consider diggin out weed patches
And getting ready for Spring and this...I love snow but c'mon now...I vaguely remember a last week in march blizzard in the 80s...but I might be fuzzy on dates.

The snowpack in my yard is down to about 1/3 coverage, mainly in the shadier spots. I am in extreme southeast Hartford County but at an elevation of over 500 feet, so I don't know if that has something to do with the persistent snow pack. What grass is showing is seriously spongy and mucky. After the snow is gone it will have to dry out before I can do much spring clearing/cleaning around the yard.

I'm ok without more snow, but I'm not looking forward to seeing ticks so the frigid cold can keep on coming for me

Would one reason we don't have any HWOs be that there is no NWS office in CT?

Our districts (New York (Upton), Taunton, Albany) are not "headquartered" in CT, but that wouldn't deter HWO from being issued-- on that note, there's HWO up for a few counties in CT. I'll post in a few.

NWS Taunton

Hazardous Weather Outlook:

HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA
827 AM EDT FRI MAR 21 2014

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTHERN CONNECTICUT...ALL
OF MASSACHUSETTS EXCEPT BERKSHIRE COUNTY...SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE
AND RHODE ISLAND.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT COASTAL STORM TUESDAY NIGHT
INTO WEDNESDAY. THERE IS HIGH CONFIDENCE A COASTAL STORM WILL
DEVELOP...BUT LOW CONFIDENCE ON ITS EXACT TRACK.
IMPACTS ON
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND WILL GREATLY DEPEND ON HOW CLOSE THIS STORM
TRACKS TO OUR REGION. AT THIS TIME...THE GREATEST RISK FOR STRONG
WINDS AND SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION IS ACROSS CAPE COD AND
THE ISLANDS. A SUBTLE SHIFT IN STORM TRACK OF LESS THAN 100 MILES
FARTHER WEST WOULD MEAN A GREATER IMPACT ACROSS MORE OF SOUTHERN
NEW ENGLAND.

This could be a situation where the Banana belt becomes the snow belt. LOL

I just don't see any mixing issues with this one as of right now. Temps aloft are in the teens and surface in the 20s maybe low 30s at most for the coast.

So its a matter of where the precip will fall.

Latest GFS says it stays well out in the Atlantic but throws back some snow for us. 1-3" (big swing from overnight update)

Canadian says it bombs out to 960mb before passing Bostons Latitude. A foot+ for the capes 6-10" for New London county CT.

Waiting on the Euro..
