That's just naive. When you move a factory into a state, there are all kinds of management positions that pay six figures along with the thousands of lower skill jobs. And lower skill folks make are than minimum, guys working oil rigs all over Texas and Louisiana are making six figures.

And it ain't just Alabama, it's North Carolina stealing fortune 500 HQs. And Atlanta doing the same. Don't sleep on Nashville and Memphis and all over the south.

Meanwhile Connecticut lost jobs last month. Your northern bias clouds your judgement.

Very true. A factory closes and the BLS/DOL show all job losses as blue collar, but, in reality, typically 20-25% are white collar, with most white collar paying at or above Ct median income levels, no matter the COL.

Engineering and Finance are usually the 2 largest departments at the plant's office. Purchasing will also be a large headcount.

When Ct factories hummed, white collar employment was far stronger. These plants absorbed much available degreed labor.

Beerbeer did not specifically say CT lost a Fortune 500 company to a southern state. They said CT is losing jobs, which is absolutely true.

And frankly, nobody in CT is in any position to defend the state of the state’s economy. CT is losing both jobs and residents. To reverse that trend first requires people to stop ignoring the problem.

It’s closer to 14k jobs lost. It’s scary stuff.

Without trying to scream “the sky is falling”, the fact that people on this forum don’t seem to find this concerning is the worst part.

alarmed.

Nation is gaining jobs at a great clip, while Ct loses them, despite Stamford doing well.

Rest of Ct is in a true recessionary mode, regarding jobs.

SCARY.

Our (CT) economy can not be growing. It’s actually pretty nerve racking. Sure some companies are doing some hiring but it seems like it does not offset the lay offs. Not sure what the next step is? Just hope it turns around because South Carolina is looking better and better.
