I agree. And don't forget that St. Joseph's School of Pharmacy already moved downtown and Infinity Hall seems to be taking off dramatically. So many good things to consider. It should just get better and better. Jay

Connecticut seems to be back on track for a great 2015.

I looked at the article, but it doesn't give a range of wages for the new jobs. That's what I would like to see. Maybe this data is available somewhere? If so, I don't know where to get it.

The articles states average wages rose 4%, but that could mean one person at the top got a huge raise.

Here you go. Labor Market Information - State of Connecticut Labor Situation

I like looking at this better. Gives a breakdown of sectors/wages/hours.

That's good stuff I haven't seen this table before. It doesn't give me the info I was looking for and I suspect that info isn't available any where.

For example, if we gained 5,000 jobs how many of those jobs paid:

$15,000-$25,000
$25,001-$35,000
$35,001-$45,000
etc

I'm just using arbitrary ranges. You could also use hourly rate as well maybe that would be easier?

Like I said before I don't think this data is available at least on the state level.

I agree. Since most are private sector jobs this information is not likely published. I like to look at the sector and read what the sector includes to give me a better idea of pay type.

For example, if the papers say we gained 4,000 jobs last month it sounds good on the surface but digging deep is it that good? If we gain 2,000 jobs in "retail", 2,500 jobs in "Leisure" and lost 500 jobs in "Finance"; does it still sound as good. We gained 4,500, more than likely, min wages jobs while losing 500 well-paying jobs. The devil is in the details.

Also, the Government employment numbers include Casino workers which we know have been hemorrhaging jobs.

Would be interesting to see the breakdown and quality of the jobs added. I'm thinking possibly questionable quality, per the "holiday hiring" comment. And... Hartford has 12% unemployment?! Wow!

It's ok, when you hand out raises with BORROWED/SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY it doesn't hurt that bad. Wonder what the interest payment is on Barnes $23k raise?

If my project aka the STATE was projected to have a $51M shortfall with a projected $1.3B deficit, pretty sure I would be looking for a new job..NOT getting a raise.

My New Years Resolution is to be more positive about Connecticut. So far, it's been hard to find anything positive. Can't wait for Jan 1st when the new electric rate hike takes effect.

In CT, I'd assume you'd have more jobs that pay far more than newly created jobs in the South, even after you include COL.
