I know what you always say -- you've been saying it for years and for years our rankings keep slipping. It's starting to sound like something that is nothing short of absolutely ridiculous. The recession started 7 years ago. Maybe we're on track to recover from it just in time for the next one to start, which based on history should be just a few of years off...

You are right but this recession was very deep and very long. Even though the politicians say the recession ended a long time ago, the unemployment rate for the country is still high. Since we did not see the deep hits other parts of the country had, we do not need to see great growth either to recover. And if you look at the history of recessions, this is sort of typical for our economy. Jay

Default CT has the #1 worst job creation in the nation

Survey: Connecticut continues to have the worst job creation cli - WFSB 3 Connecticut

Oh my lord. All these reports just keep coming.

#1 worst roads in the nation

#1 highest tax burden per capita in the nation

#1 most moved-out-of state in the nation

#1 highest income inequality in the nation

#1 worst job creation in the nation

In 2014 the population declined for the first time in decades...

I don't like this news at all, but Jesus....this is just....sad. I hope Malloy fixes things up ASAP.

You think Malloy is going to fix this? Please, under his administration the only people reaping the benefits of ANY job growth are in the public sector. I wish my private-sector job gave me a 12% pay raise like he offered his staff (with much higher base pay.)

Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him.

That's job creation climate, or perception of the state's workers. However, CT had it's best year for job creation since the 1990s last year?

doesn't make it any less troubling.

Define.

Take a look at the employment numbers for YOY 2013-2014. Labor Market Information - State of Connecticut Labor Situation

Losing 2400 Financial/insurance jobs (thought we were the leaders) and replacing those jobs with 6400 Hospitality jobs (most min. wage) does not look like success to me.

I'm sorry, but CT is not doing well. Does it have the traits to do amazing....heck yes, but something is holding is back. Until someone finds that something CT will be in this cycle of stagnant to negative growth.

I'm not that troubled. Our state has one of the highest rate of self-empoyment. Self-employed professionals (as opposed to entrepreneurs) don't create jobs en masse. Our unemployment rate is rebounding. While not great, not as alarming as a year ago.

As for economic injustice-- the reason it so pronounced here is because we do have the richest of the richest and an overall wealthy state, making the poverty that much more pronounced here. Is it problematic? Absolutely-- but not more so than the South Bronx or Oakland.

I like it here. There's more to life than taxes-- and by the way: The overall tax burden for the average Connecticut worker is only 1.5% above the national mean.

If you want to try living in a low-cost structure environment and are willing to deal with the trade-offs, go for it.

CT politics and "economics" is the reason I left that state. Malloy isn't going to fix a thing- that's why he hid the deficit until after the election.

It's a beautiful state but very poorly managed. The numbers don't lie. These reports are going to keep coming until there are some substantial changes.
