I expect the union members to vote in favor of this deal. This is a classic divide and conquer approach and the union is too dumb to recognize it.

Unions divide and conquer all the time, stupidly. Both Tier 1 and 2 have a mix % of total employees-which both sides can calculate by attrition rates. So if Sikorsky is after contract-term 80% at say $50 an hour with benefits, and 20% at $30, blended average would be $46, and the union should push for cuts to all members to match whatever the blended average is. That maintains solidarity via SHARED by ALL sacrifice.

If the mix is later 30% at $50, 70% at $30, they would need to readjust all to blended average of $36. The point isn't the % or cost, but one pay scale, one benefit deal for all at the same grade level.

Appears deal by Ct is contingent on the passage of the pay cut.
The pay cuts are for future employees, not current employees. I think it would be in the best interest of everyone if they accept this. Jay

I agree, but that union has been militant before.

I do acknowledge in CT there are 2 distinct economies much like New York state. The NYC metro Fairfield County area (and maybe some New Haven areas too) and the rest of the state.

Per Capita Personal Income by State

These numbers are from the US Census. Where are your graphs from? Sometimes both the right and the left use different numbers to back up their causes.
Why are you arguing with something you haven't read? Those posts are in this thread. Not my job to repeat them.

Number two: if I tell you "sky is blue today", why do say "that is wrong because football has an oval shape!!" I say "what is the connection?" You answer "because I was playing football yesterday and it was raining!!"

Your argument is strenuous to say the least.

According to you, every negotiation is a shake-down. "I will give you this if you give me that." This concept is as ancient as Persian Bazaars in old Mesopotamia.

Come to think of it you shake down your employer every day --"if you want me to do this for you, you have to pay me this much, plus holiday pay, plus vacation, etc."

Let's not use Saul Alinsky language right of out of his "Rules for Radicals" to attack a private business, which is trying to do what a business does -- maximize profits. Gee, how dare they make money? On the back of middle class!!! Workers of the world Unite against the filthy capitalists!!!

Democrats have quite a scam going.

First, their Socialist polices have ruined these cities, have impoverished people, and keep them impoverished, who in turn keep electing the same Liberal / Progressive Democrats.

Then, these corrupt politicians collude back -- they want more of the other people's moneys to spend on their constituencies, by screaming "hey, you are too rich, my people are too poor. Give me some of your money. This money will go through me, and I will enrich myself in the process!!"

And the spiral keeps spiraling...

This scam is so fool-proof that it needs to be outlawed, and these people arrested and criminally punished for Crimes Against Society.

Remember that Democrats are leaving hollowed out Detroit and Cleveland by heading to successful Republican cities down south. Then those cities are turning liberal. Austin is a perfect example. Why would you vote democrat when you just came from a city with failed democrat policies? Now states like NC which have been majority red for years has now started to turn into a battleground state in the election. The reason why there's very little social mobility in democrat held cities is because regulations and taxes are so high that it makes it extremely difficult to open up a business yet alone get a job.

I think they are trying to point out that CT despite have the highest per capita income in the USA still has three of its poorest cities. This has been the case since at least 1990 though, so I don't see how this is new info.
