I do not think this describes most of the regulars on this board.

Yes, our recovery should be better but as I have noted here many times, our economy is such that we go into recession later and come out of them later as well. Not everyone here feels this is the end of the world. Recently Hartford was named by Glassdoor.com as one of the top cities for finding jobs. And note that while Boston has seen a lot of job growth, the rest of Massachusetts is not so bright. Unemployment levels are high in Springfield, Worcester, New Bedford, Fall River, Lawrence and other areas not tied to the Boston metropolitan area. Jay

On average nationally, a worker has to make $20.30 per hour to afford a two-bedroom apartment though the average hourly wage across the country is just $15.42, according to the report.
Apparently no worker in any state can afford a two-bedroom apartment with the average wage. The article seems to imply that the average worker SHOULD be able to afford a two-bedroom apartment with a single income, which is a ridiculous premise in my opinion. There are many things wrong in our world and that is not one of them.

ANALYSIS | Sullivan, Rating Agencies Signal Little Room For Error in CT’s Budget

"That brings us to Department of Revenue Services Commissioner Kevin Sullivan, who tracks the state’s tax data.
Sullivan said the top 50 Connecticut taxpayers, who the state has been tracking for seven to eight years, haven’t had a good year. They lost more than $2.9 billion in income, and that contributed to a $217 million decline in revenue to the state. But they haven’t left the state.

"Apart from the higher income group, Sullivan said there is evidence that, on average, the state is losing about $21,000 per household on outmigration. Essentially, he said people with higher incomes have been leaving, and those who are arriving have adjusted gross incomes of about $21,000 less per household."

Hallmark will lay off 534 by June | HartfordBusiness.com

I had heard that months ago. They waited until the WARN act period to announce it.

Very sad.

Yes I read that the warehouse has been in Enfield for many years. I'm not an expert on the greeting card industry, but I imagine it is significantly smaller than years ago (no one under middle-age who I know sends 'em). So this appears to be as a result of industry conditions, rather than dissatisfaction with CT.

I know several of our regular posters here in person and can tell you, it's quite the opposite. They're intelligent, hold steady jobs and are hardworking people. So IMO, your analysis couldn't be further from the truth.
