This is good news! It must mean they will be eliminating income tax as compromise...can we add that cute little "kill yourself" emoji to the very limited list of expressions?

It means the smaller towns will have to pay for all the mistakes made by those in the inner cities... total and complete redistribution of wealth going on here.

MALLOY HAS GOT TO GO.

Lack of accountability has become the democratic way... sickening to say the least.

Over time yes it would redistribute wealth. But the initial hit would be bad for poor and wealthy towns alike.

And all this time I thought I worked hard to be able to afford to live in a nice town. Come to find out you can screw up and still get bailed out.

Looks like that is not the case in CT. I'm moving back to New Britain!

This link won't open for me for some odd reason. Does it stat whether the CGA voted on this or was this an order proposed solely by Malloy?

I wouldn't mind if the State stopped funding school systems in towns with 80,000 or less people. Direct funds for schools over 4 years to towns with 80,000 or more. Then stop funding schools and let towns/cities fund their own school system.

Wouldn't mind if the State capped mill rates at 50% or lower. Those who pay property tax on a property are excused from paying car taxes.

Hope the State can do away with income tax and replace it with tolls.

Legalize marijuana and use sales tax to help improve the State budget. Then utilize a 10% excess tax on marijuana, cigarettes, and alcohol to fund DMHAS in the State.

I hear economic prosperity and sustainability is a pretty good policy to "help cities" ...and all surrounding burbs and for people across the socioeconomic spectrum. Hell, it's even good for governments and municipalities. Time to cut welfare spending and illegal alien programs and put that money toward economic growth initiatives.
