I don't know every town in Litchfield but here is what I know and can compare it too. I have quite a few friends, relatives and their children move to Harwinton/Torrington. The younger generations are moving to Torrington. From what I see of Harwinton you can get a really big nice house on a large piece of land for about half the price. I can't find out what the average size of a house in Trumbull vs Harwinton but to me Harwinton houses are bigger in square footage. That info might be on CD but I don't know where. Most of the people I know in Harwinton/Torrington work in the Bridgeport/Norwalk or Hartford area. Maybe Jay or a realtor on here can tell us where we can find the info on house square footage.

Trumbull House
Median Price.............$402,000
Price Per SF..............$204*
Number of rooms......7.4

Harwinton House
Median Price............$254,534
Price Per SF..............$111*
Number of Rooms......6.4

Torrington House
Median Price............$158,072
Price Per SF.............$94*
Number of Rooms.....5.8

Trumbull was colonized by the English in the 1630's and was made a town in 1725. Harwinton was made a town in 1737. Torrington was made a town in 1735. (info from wikipedia) So I am assuming that the housing stock in all all 3 towns are similar as they where founded around the same time. The Trumbull house has more rooms but not a very big difference from Harwinton.

Trumbull and Torrington housing is very very different. Odd comparison. Litchfield or Washington would be more apt.

United Technologies is moving forward with its planned improvement at its UT Aerospace division in Windsor Locks. This is part of the massive agreement that UTC has with the state to retain and expand here. Nice to see that the Windsor Locks facility is the divisions largest with about 3,500 employees. Jay

It is nice to see that Connecticut still ranks No. 1 in New England for the number of Fortune 500 companies based here despite the loss of GE to Massachusetts. Being such a small state with about 1% of the US population, having 16 companies on the list (or 3% of the companies) is a lot. Jay

That is 2,000 in the next 2 years but more beyond that. Also note that UTC already has 18,000 in the state so they are looking to go to 20,000 in the next 2 years. Considering the are an very large international corporation, that is pretty good. Jay

Of Connecticut's 169 towns, only 12 have either reached or surpassed the annual median home sale price in 2007. Is your town one of them?

I already posted that. And yet we still have the highest number in New England and 3% of the list which for a small state, that is pretty damn good. Jay

Great links - I can see very clearly why some people have a hard time understanding that others are not seeing the same returns they are. I wish they'd gone back further.

Cornwall took a huge hit which really surprises me!
