Again, I didn't say a thing about whether the pensions or raises are deserved or not. I simply said I could easily live on the increases.

This was my comment:

Simple. No need for either of you to read anything into that at all.

Just watch someone at a supermarket checkout trying to find the code for bananas or cherries.
Have someone at the ready to assist, like at supermarket.

But I agree, 90% can be done online.

Curious to see Ct Feb jobs report, as the nation has started this year off magnificently. 313k is extraordinary in a Q1 month when unemployment is already very low.

It’s strange to me that Woodbridge falls under Bridgeport/Stamford and not New Haven.

Jeez, my hat's off to you. And I thought I was frugal. Good on you.

Regardless of how nation does, CT simply can't provide enough high paying jobs to support itself. I know many people who have been looking for employment in finance but can't find a thing in lower CT. NYC opens up some possibilities but a four hour commute day won't do much for people of CT, particularly if it supports only average middle class income.

You can't continue to offer 600k dumps with 10k tax bills to average families then telling them to shove off to NYC to get income needed to support it. People are burnt out and part of reason I see young families abandoning the area.

There is a flurry of new jobs in FFC in the hedge fund industry at the moment, I'm noticing from a big pick up in activity from recruiters. However, it is still a niche industry even within the finance world.

Like CT Yank says, not enough well paying jobs. For each full time say $60,000 middle class paycheck with benefits that leaves, and those are most of the ones leaving, the "new" jobs coming into CT are low-pay part time retail jobs with no benefits, where you can't afford an apartment let alone a mortgage.

And most of these retail jobs, they require you to be "available". Used to be you could tell the hiring manager that I can work X days from time X to time Y, and you have a fixed schedule where you are freed up to get a second part time job, in the other hours. No more. 28 hours per week and you have to be "available". My fiance was living that life when I met her. She is a banker now and it's better, but she is still stuck with her 40 hours spread over 6 days most weeks.
