How did that work out for you that day? Judging by the timing you had arrived there before the whiteout conditions along the way. Did you "have to" spend the night or did you try to drive back?

We ended up staying. We left around 2:30 and it wasn't too bad out yet, but we took a step outside around 8 and there must have been a foot on the ground already.

There was about 7" on the ground in Branford.

Some stats for CT. Pretty much had to wait a year to get these temps tonight.

I suspect the North County will be colder than -20F tonight with Concord potentially making a run at -10F IF winds go light. Coastal areas of southern New England will be closer to 10F.

Couple of OBS texts: Below zero north of I-90. Single digits into Northern Westchester and interior CT including Danbury. Teens to the CT coast but 20s around NYC and Long Island.

Fell from 9 to 7 F as I drove into Farmington during that same hour. Impressive cold for sure, and a real January feel, especially with the snowpack on the ground.

Dont worry... Warm is coming.

Here's a look at the latest GFS for max temps on Wednesday. Well above normal. 60s make it into the Northern Mid atlantic and widespread 40s and 50s in the NorthEast

We had zero here this morning. Tried to take a picture of the car thermometer but it turned out too blurry. My kind of weather!
