i don't live in ct (i've just been visiting a lot lately) so i'm not super up on restaurants there anymore, but a laotian/thai place opened recently in torrington of all places that is among the best i've ever been to. and i have been to a lot of thai places! it's called vientiane.

i always seem to like "thai" places that are run by laotians, i'm not sure what the difference is but they're almost always better. and they pretty much always have a killer green curry.

5 guys is good, but it's overpriced for what it is. I think Wendy's has the best fast food burgers around. It's all fresh and hard to beat for the price. I was pleasantly surprised last time I went there.

Since we are talking about burgers, everyone should go to Louis Lunch in New Haven at least once, if only just to experience it. I know some people think its overhyped, but I like their burgers. And don't order ketchup!

as far as pizza, i revisited the Recovery Room (New London) in Feb after not going for years and it was still pretty good. also have to give kudos to Lunas (Glastonbury), DaVincis (Cromwell) and Joey Garlics (Newington, Bristol).
I never found Wang Palace to be anything special. I prefer Char Koon in south Glastonbury which is kind of far for us. We also like Ming Bao on Hebron Avenue. In fact I am there often.

Lunas in Glastonbury is hit or miss and Joey Garlics only seems to offer quantity over quality (decent but nothing great IMHO). Jay

Is this Chinese made with good, lean chicken, or that rubbery stuff often used at Chinese joints? I ask because I have not had Chinese in years because I cannot find a place that serves acceptable meat in my area. It is simply disgusting. If this place is worth the drive, I'll check it out.

They use good lean chicken and fresh seafood. Closer to you would be their sister restaurant in Middletown, Forbidden City. Equally good in quality. Jay

you know just because Jay doesn't like Wang Palace doesn't mean you can't try it and make up your own mind. in fact i know exactly what you mean by 'rubbery' chicken because there have been a lot of places i didn't like because of it and i never went back. but Wangs (all) aren't like that. tastes good to me. i've been to the ones in Cromwell and Rocky Hill a bunch of times and went to the Palace once with 3 other people and they all liked it as well.

Yeah, but when you move back to FFC, you're going to be back to square one again. They all get the same cr*p off those nasty NY delivery trucks......
