Yeah, they were not bad at all. Soho near the WCSU midtown campus is decent too, they opened around 2008. Pizzeria Laurentano in Bethel is excellent too. I remember living in Brookfield and coming to the realization that every pizza option in town was atrociously bad. I guess I'm unfairly holding up NYC/New Haven pizza as a bellwether, but still. So bad.

My access to pizza now is so much better, not even including New Haven. Jimmy's Apizza, Franco's (GREAT NY style pizza), Michael Anthony's, and the new wood fired GG's Pizza. All excellent.

I get a kick out of Franco's YouTube vids too. He's a character.

I remember trying John's in Brookfield. People raved about it. Yuck. Too thick and too cheesy.

John's, ugh. When my Brookfield friends say they love it I just cringe.

Same here.

I don't mean to turn the thread in direction of only pizza, but My Place in Newtown is very, very good.

If you can't tell, pizza is my weakness!

I will try My Place!

And feel free to talk pizza. This is all about food, and pizza is one of the better ones.

It's more NY style over NH style.

Good NY style is fine by me. Again, I love Franco's in Milford and that's as NY style as it gets.

I agree, we find Bertucci's to be excellent for a chain and a place we keep going back to. Further bolstered by the fact that one of my colleagues--an immigrant from Bergamo, Italy--endorsed the place as being pretty good. This is the same guy who took his family to Olive Garden once (but never again), to the disgust of his wife who is also Italian.

if i can bring up Chinese again, a new place called Wangs recently opened in Cromwell at the old Diamond Trio site. the best Chinese i've had since Green Tea closed in Newington. they are owned by the same family as Wang Palace (Glastonbury) and Ming Dynasty (Rocky Hill). all are excellent imo.
as far as pizza, i revisited the Recovery Room (New London) in Feb after not going for years and it was still pretty good. also have to give kudos to Lunas (Glastonbury), DaVincis (Cromwell) and Joey Garlics (Newington, Bristol).

Now closed. New Haven is still operating.
